TPY Classes

Yin Yoga

A Yin yoga class usually consists of a series of long-held, passive floor poses that mainly work the lower part of the body - the hips, pelvis, hamstrings, inner thighs, lower spine. These areas are especially rich in connective tissues and allowing time to work this tissue can result in increased flexibility and mobility. The poses are held for anywhere between three to five minutes and allow time for the student to slow down, observe and connect. This practise is for anyone wanting to improve their flexibility (great to help with other forms of yoga), practise mindfulness and bring more calm and a balance to what is often a very active ‘Yang’ lifestyle.

Hatha Yoga

Hatha is a broad term that encompasses all of postural yoga.  My training is with a traditional lineage so classes pay respect to the roots of yoga. There is a focus on moving with your breath and connecting with your self. Breathing exercises and meditation are often included. These classes are a great way to develop confidence and master the foundation postures. They are designed to get you moving, build a strong foundation and core, but leave you feeling energised.

About TPY: Classes

About Me

My name is Kate and I am passionate about bringing my love of yoga and health to others. I teach weekly classes in Adelaide with a wonderful community of yoga students!  My classes are designed for all people, and focus on the traditional, gentle style of yoga and meditation. Suitable for beginners, with options for experienced yogis.

I have been practising yoga myself for many years and sharing the benefits of yoga through teaching for 7 years. I am trained in both Hatha (Level 1 and Level 2) and Yin Yoga, and have completed 550 hours of teacher training, in both Australia and India. I have trained with Shantarasa Yoga Darshana, and my classes focus on the more traditional style of yoga and meditation. I have also completed Yin teacher training with Hugh Lee and enjoy sharing this style as a way to slow down, recharge and create inner and outer balance.

I run yearly workshops and offer small group classes for special occasion (family yoga, hens parties, birthdays). I am a qualified One on One Yoga Teacher, combining aspects of Yoga Therapy, for those who wish to delve deeper into their personal practice and have an individual sequence developed just for them.

Hear What Others Have to Say

I had been looking for a yoga teacher for some time when I found Kate. Kate is a warm and caring person and a wonderful instructor making her classes a joy to attend. I attend both her Yin and her Hatha yoga classes and know that I have gained more flexibly, strength and zen in my daily life as a result. I’m so grateful that I found Turning Point Yoga and highly recommend Kate’s classes to anyone wishing to make yoga a part of their life.

Ann Branford

I started attending Kate's Turning point yoga two years ago. I love both the hatha and the yin styles. The yin is especially good for developing flexibility whilst relaxing at the same time. Kate also offers seasonal workshops that incorporate seasonal foods and meditations. Kate explains the yoga poses very well and uses the correct yoga terminology as well as English translations. Plenty of options are given so classes are suitable for all experience, age and flexibility levels; so anyone can join in. The turning point yoga attendees are also friendly. At the end of a Yoga session we are stretched, relaxed and energised in one!

Leanne Hough

I love how Kate brings such a warm and peaceful energy to the space. She guides us through the postures with care. I easily find myself immersed in her classes. She has a strong passion and knowledge for yoga and I'm so excited to continue learning from her.
